Abia APC Condemns Government-Sponsored Skits Promoting Violence

0

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State unequivocally condemns a recent skit circulating in the media space which promotes political intolerance and incites violence.

The said content is credited to a skit maker widely known to be closely associated with Governor Alex Otti and reportedly engaged by the present administration to promote its activities.

As a law-abiding political party that places the highest premium on the safety of lives and property, we view this development as reckless, irresponsible, and a dangerous provocation capable of undermining the peace of our dear state. It is both troubling and unacceptable that public funds could be deployed directly or indirectly to sponsor content that encourages hostility and threatens the democratic fabric of Abia State.

Consequently, we have formally called on relevant security agencies to urgently investigate the matter and ensure that all individuals and sponsors connected to this inciting content are held accountable. No individual or group no matter how highly placed should be allowed to fan the flames of violence with impunity.

It is also instructive to note that multiple publicly available videos show the skit maker in close interaction with Governor Alex Otti. In one such instance, the Governor was seen inquiring directly from the skit maker about receiving his message raising serious concerns about possible endorsement or coordination. These developments lend credence to the belief that such provocative content may not be isolated, but part of a broader pattern by Governor Otti, to unleash violence on the opposition come 2027.

We further condemn, in strong terms, the growing trend of dangerously inflammatory rhetoric by the governor himself, sponsored skits, and actions by government officials, aides, and supporters that appear to encourage political intolerance and violence ahead of the 2027 elections. We urge Governor Alex Otti to rise above partisan interests and prioritize the peace, unity, and security of Abians over any personal or political ambition.

The APC firmly believes in the democratic right of Abians to freely choose their leaders. Governor Alex Otti must allow the electorate to decide in 2027 without fear, intimidation, or coercion. Let it be clearly stated: no amount of threats, harassment, or orchestrated propaganda will deter Abians from exercising their constitutional rights or from supporting the APC in their quest to reconnect Abia State to the center.

Abians are peace-loving people with no history of electoral violence. Their growing alignment with the APC is a voluntary and conscious decision driven by the visible commitment of the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose administration has demonstrated goodwill towards the state through infrastructural development, strategic appointments, and the siting of critical federal institutions.

A government that truly enjoys the confidence of the people should not resort to panic tactics or indirect threats on the citizens, We therefore call on the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Inspector-General of Police, and the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, to act swiftly and decisively to prevent any breakdown of law and order and to protect citizens from any form of state-enabled intimidation or violence.

As a responsible political party, we won’t fold our arms and watch Abians being harassed or intimidated, Abia must remain peaceful, citizens must be allowed to exercise their rights to vote their choice and Democracy must be protected.
