The Abia State Governorship candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Chief Etugo Ndubuisi Ogah, has pledged to industrialize the state, stimulate economic growth and create employment opportunities if elected Governor in 2027.
Ogah made the pledge on Sunday, October 11, 2026, while worshipping with the United Church of Christ during the launch of its ₦200 million Divine Mandate Missionary Bus Project.
The NDC candidate, who was honoured with an award of recognition by the General Overseer of the church, Bishop John Egbo, expressed appreciation to the church for the gesture and outlined his vision for the economic transformation of Abia State.
He identified industrialization, investment promotion and economic expansion as key priorities of his proposed administration, stressing the need to harness the state’s economic potential to improve the living conditions of residents.
Ogah said his ambition was driven by a desire to build a prosperous state where industries would thrive, businesses would expand and more employment opportunities would be available to the people.
He also emphasized the importance of creating an enabling environment for productive enterprises, noting that sustainable economic growth would require deliberate efforts to strengthen industrial activities and unlock the potential of Abia’s human and material resources.
During the church service, Bishop Egbo offered prayers for the Governorship candidate, committing his political ambition to God and seeking divine guidance and favour ahead of the 2027 election.

The cleric also expressed concern over the poor welfare of workers and the alleged non-payment of gratuities and pensions by the present administration, urging Ogah to prioritize workers’ welfare and the timely payment of retirement benefits if elected Governor.
