APC faithful in Umuohu Okpula Ndume, Ibeku, Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State, have inaugurated a special committee for grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring support for the party’s candidates across various constituencies.

The committee, organised under the leadership of Hon. Chidozie Okpechi, is expected to coordinate grassroots outreach, strengthen the party’s support base and mobilise voters across the community and neighbouring areas.

Speaking at the inauguration, the chairman of the occasion, Hon. Okay Ebogu, alongside the Ndume Ward APC chairman, Hon. Innocent Uguru; former Umuahia North APC chairman, Hon. Israel Nwachukwu; Hon. Chimereze, an aide to Rt. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Orji; and other party stakeholders, charged the committee to work towards securing APC victories across polling units in the area.

The stakeholders expressed confidence in the party’s prospects, noting that the emergence of Sir Innocent Chimezie Nwachukwu, popularly known as Onwa, as the APC candidate for Umuahia East State Constituency had strengthened political mobilisation in the community.

They also pledged their support for Hon. Emeka Atuma, the APC candidate for Abia Central Senatorial District, and Rt. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Orji, popularly known as Ikuku Abia, the party’s candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency.

According to the stakeholders, the candidates’ experience and leadership would promote effective representation, responsive governance and accelerated development across their respective constituencies.

They further expressed concern that increased federal allocations to states following the removal of the fuel subsidy had yet to translate into commensurate development in Abia’s constituencies. They maintained that APC leadership at the state and constituency levels could improve the delivery of democratic dividends to the people.

In his remarks, the chairman of the newly inaugurated committee, Mr. Chibueze Uche, pledged the group’s commitment to the APC and its candidates in the 2027 elections.

Uche said the committee would prioritise unity, party loyalty and sustained grassroots mobilisation, while encouraging greater participation by youths, women and other community stakeholders.

He added that the committee would work to address internal concerns, promote party discipline and strengthen cooperation among members to improve the party’s electoral prospects.

The committee chairman also stressed the importance of early mobilisation, describing it as a strategic step towards expanding the APC’s support base and securing victory at the polls.

The inauguration attracted a large turnout of party members and supporters, reflecting ongoing efforts by political stakeholders to strengthen grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
