Anyaso Announces Car Gift for Methodist Bishop of Item During 2026 Harvest Thanksgiving
The Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chima Anyaso, on Sunday countered claims by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Abia governorship candidate , Dr. Kelechi Anosike, that Abia State is the most expensive state to live in, insisting that the state has become more affordable under Governor Alex Otti’s administration, while announcing a new car gift to the Methodist Bishop of Item Diocese
Anyaso made the remarks on Sunday while congratulating the Bishop and members of the Methodist Church, Diocese of Item, on their successful 2026 Harvest Thanksgiving celebration held at the Methodist Church, Okoko Item, in Bende Local Government Area.

Speaking at the event, Anyaso said Abia had moved beyond its previous challenges and would not return to what he described as the ‘state’s bad past’ inflicted by the People’s Democratic Party(PDP)
“Abians have moved on, and our song has changed under the Labour Party administration of Governor Alex Otti,” he said.
Responding to the claim by Anosike while speaking during the service , Anyaso maintained that Abia is not the most expensive state to live in, arguing instead that it is the cheapest.l currently.
“Abia is not the most expensive state to live in. Abia State is the cheapest state to live in,” he declared.

His remarks formed part of his defence of the state government’s performance and its approach to governance under Governor Otti.
In a related development, Anyaso announced a new car for the Methodist Bishop of Item Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Ikechukwu Nkulo, after learning that the cleric’s existing vehicle had been out of use for months due to mechanical problems.
“We are not fixing a car; we are changing your car,” Anyaso announced, drawing attention to his decision to provide a replacement vehicle.
Earlier, Bishop Nkulo delivered a sermon titled “When God Does Great Things,” drawing from Psalm 126:3, which speaks of the great things the Lord has done for His people.

Reflecting on the experiences of the Israelites during their exile in Babylon, the Bishop encouraged the congregation to maintain faith and hope despite difficult circumstances.
He observed that, just as the Israelites could look back and celebrate God’s restoration, believers should remain confident that difficult seasons would not last forever.
“No matter how difficult it is, if the Israelites could say, ‘We were like them that dreamt,’ then for us, we will soon shout, ‘It is like a dream,’” he said.
The Bishop further urged worshippers to remember and acknowledge God’s blessings, encouraging them to declare the good things they had experienced.
“If you can recall one thing or the other the Lord has done for you, then declare it with your own mouth: ‘The Lord has done great things for me,’” he stated.
He emphasised that every good and great thing has a source, identifying Almighty God as the ultimate source of blessings.
The Member Representing Bende North State Constituency Hon Nnamdi Ibekwe among others joined the Methodist Church for harvest thanksgiving Service.
