APC Okpu-Umuobo Ward 10 Denies Defection Rumors, Says Party Executives Still Committed To APC
The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okpu-Umuobo Ward 10, Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State, has dismissed claims that its ward executives have defected from the party or collapsed the ward structure following the defection of a member, Mr. Sunny Nwabekee, to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The ward chairman, Hon. Ugochukwu Nwogu, made the clarification in a statement issued after an executive meeting of the ward held on Monday, August 17, 2026.
The statement followed a social media publication allegedly credited to Mr. Kelechi Onyendi, Media Assistant to Senator Nkechi Nwogu, claiming that Nwabekee had collapsed the APC executive structure in Okpu-Umuobo Ward 10.
Nwogu described the claim as false and insisted that no member of the ward executive has defected to another political party.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the entire executive structure of the APC in Okpu-Umuobo Ward 10 remains intact and functional. The ward executives have neither defected nor resigned from the party,” the chairman stated.
He added that the ward executives remain committed to the APC and loyal to the leadership of Hon. Prince Udo Alozie, as well as the constituted leadership of the party.
According to him, attempts to create the impression that the ward executives had abandoned or collapsed the APC were misleading and capable of confusing members of the public and party faithful.
Nwogu reaffirmed the unity and organisational strength of the APC in Okpu-Umuobo Ward 10, saying the ward remains focused on strengthening the party and advancing its interests.
He therefore urged APC members, supporters and the general public to disregard unverified social media claims and rely on official and verifiable information concerning developments within the party.
The ward chairman further called on party members to remain united and committed to the leadership and objectives of the APC.
