As Nigeria marked its 66th Independence Anniversary on Thursday, October 1, 2026, Dr. Chima Anyaso and members of Umu Aba Connect celebrated the occasion in a different way by extending support to families of newborn babies in Aba.

The group visited the hospital as part of its Independence Day outreach, where it paid the medical bills of newborn babies and their families, bringing relief and smiles to the beneficiaries.

Speaking during the visit, Dr Anyaso who is the President of Umu Aba Connect described the organisation as a group of young men who were born and raised in Aba and are committed to giving back to the society that contributed to their growth.

“We are young men who were born and brought up here in Aba, and our goal is to give back to the society that gave us so much,” he said.

According to him, the Independence Day intervention was conceived as a way of celebrating Nigeria’s anniversary by identifying with families welcoming new members into the world.

The group subsequently announced that it would settle the outstanding hospital bills of the affected babies.

“So today, we decided to come in celebration of Nigerian Independence to celebrate with the first of October babies. So, we are going to pay all your bills.”

Presenting the gesture on behalf of Umu Aba Connect, Anyaso congratulated the families and prayed for the wellbeing of the newborns.

“On behalf of Umu Aba Connect, we want to say congratulations to all of you, and we join you in celebrating your newly born babies.”

The intervention was met with excitement and appreciation as the beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the unexpected assistance.

The group also prayed for the families, asking God to put smiles on their faces and bless the organisation for the humanitarian initiative.
