The Abia State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warmly applauded the resolutions reached at the 105th meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party, describing the outcomes as timely, stabilising, and critical to the ongoing efforts to reposition the PDP for renewed national relevance and effectiveness.
The Party expressed particular satisfaction with the NEC’s decision to fix the National Elective Convention for March 28–29, 2026, in Abuja, noting that this decisive step provides a clear and credible pathway toward resolving lingering internal challenges at the national level and restoring full institutional normalcy to the Party.
According to the Abia PDP, the planned National Convention underscores the Party’s renewed commitment to internal democracy, constitutional order, unity of purpose, and collective leadership. The decision, the Party noted, offers a well-defined roadmap for reconciliation, institutional renewal, and confidence-building among members and stakeholders nationwide.
The Abia PDP further observed that the forthcoming Convention is expected to usher in a new National Working Committee (NWC) that will provide strategic leadership, strengthen party structures across the federation, rebuild trust among members, and reposition the PDP as a credible, people-oriented alternative in Nigeria’s democratic landscape.
In this regard, the Abia State Chapter called on all PDP members across the State to begin early preparations ahead of the Convention by remaining united, disciplined, and actively engaged in party activities. The Party emphasized that cohesion and collective responsibility at both state and national levels are indispensable to the PDP’s future electoral success and national outlook.
The Abia PDP noted that the decisions taken at the NEC meeting have restored confidence in the Party’s leadership and internal processes. It therefore urged members to remain steadfast, mobilised, and committed to the enduring ideals and vision of the PDP as the Party moves toward a Convention that will help redefine its future direction.
The Party reaffirmed its unwavering loyalty to the national leadership of the PDP and expressed its readiness to participate fully, responsibly, and constructively in the forthcoming National Convention. The Abia PDP expressed confidence that the process will further strengthen internal cohesion, deepen democratic culture within the Party, and enhance its capacity to effectively serve the Nigerian people.
