The Abia State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has issued a strongly worded statement challenging Governor Alex Otti’s recent comments suggesting he would remain in office beyond 2027.
The party reacting to remarks made by Governor Alex Otti during a reception organized by the Anambra Development Unions Association in Aba, where he reportedly declared that there would be no vacancy in the Abia State Government House come 2027, described the statement as self serving.
ADC, however, questioned the Governor’s performance over the last 22 months, citing unresolved issues with pension arrears, alleged financial mismanagement, and what it termed as “non-existent projects” funded with billions of state funds.
“It is troubling that a government that has written off billions of Abia funds for non-existent projects and operates from the confines of his bedroom can presume to continue governing past 2027,” said ADC’s Publicity Secretary, Chiamaka Ohaja, in the press release dated April 11.

The party also criticized the administration’s emphasis on road projects and maintenance as insufficient achievements after nearly two years in office. “It is absurd for a government that revels in road expansions, retrofitting and maintenance as signature projects, to presume an extended two-term reign,” the statement added.
The ADC affirmed that Abia has many capable individuals who are ready to contest and win in 2027, stating emphatically that the present administration is not the kind of leadership the state needs going forward.
They called on the Governor to focus on delivering genuine service with his remaining tenure and as well refrain from unnecessary political posturing.
