The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Abia State on Due Process, Dr Oluebube Chukwu, has called for the unification of all factions within the Labour Party, describing the party’s national convention as a turning point in its revival.
Speaking in reaction to the outcome of the convention held in Umuahia , the Abia State capital, Chukwu said the party has regained its strength and is now more united than ever before.
According to him, the developments at the convention signaled a new phase for the party, which he believed would attract more members in the coming months.
“The party is back. We are more united now than ever before, and more people are going to join us after this convention”, he said.
Chukwu attributed the renewed momentum within the Labour party to the leadership and performance of the Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, whom he described as a beacon of excellence.
He expressed confidence that the party would recover lost political ground ahead of the 2027 general elections. “Whatever seats we have lost, we will get them back and even more by 2027″, he stated.
The Governor’s aide further urged the newly elected substantive leadership of the party to prioritize reconciliation and inclusiveness by reaching out to aggrieved members and factions.
He stressed that unity within the party is critical to repositioning it as a formidable opposition force in Nigeria.
In his words, “The leadership should move swiftly to unite all factions of the party to ensure that we return as a strong opposition party”.
Chukwu further disclosed that with sustained unity and strategic organization, the Labour Party would be well-positioned to play a significant role in the country’s political landscape in the years ahead.
