Bende Public Servants Confer ‘Ochiagha Bende’ On Anyaso, Endorse Him For Bende Federal Constituency
Members of the Ikwuisii Public Servants Association (Bende South), Abia State Chapter, have declared their support for Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, endorsing his political aspirations ahead of future electoral contests, while conferring him Ochiagha Bende
The endorsement was announced during a courtesy and solidarity visit to Dr. Anyaso, President and Founder of the Ofuji Foundation, at his country home in Igbere.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Chairman of the Association, Hon. Robinson Onyemuwa described Dr. Anyaso as an “illustrious son and political icon” with the vision and capacity to reposition Bende Federal Constituency for sustainable development. He explained that the Association, established on July 26, 2012, is a coalition of public servants drawn from ministries, departments and agencies, including the education, health, judiciary, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the National Orientation Agency, as well as workers in the private sector.
According to him, the body boasts over 3,000 active members across Abia State and remains committed to promoting unity, civic participation, and socio-economic development within Bende South and beyond.
The chairman noted that members had intensified mobilisation efforts to encourage residents to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise, aimed at strengthening democratic participation and supporting credible leadership.
Commending Dr. Anyaso’s philanthropic interventions and humanitarian contributions across communities, the Association urged him to formally declare for the Bende Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives and carry members along in his political engagements.
They also appealed for logistical assistance, including the provision of an operational vehicle, to enhance the Association’s activities.
The group further drew attention to pressing infrastructural challenges, particularly the deplorable condition of the Bende–Ozuitem Road, calling for urgent government intervention.
Responding, Dr. Anyaso expressed appreciation for the visit and the confidence reposed in him, assuring the delegation that their requests would receive due consideration.
He encouraged members to remain united and focused, stressing that the political journey ahead would require collective commitment, organisation, and resilience.
Dr. Anyaso disclosed that the issue of the Bende–Ozuitem Road had already been brought to the attention of Alex Chioma Otti, Governor of Abia State, expressing optimism that rehabilitation work would commence after the rainy season.
He further revealed plans to deepen grassroots mobilisation through the establishment of over 100 structured support groups aimed at strengthening political participation and ensuring electoral success.
In a vote of thanks, the immediate past Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Bende LGA, Comrade Chijioke Azubuike, reaffirmed the Association’s readiness to work diligently toward the realisation of Dr. Anyaso’s political ambition.
The highlight of the visit was the conferment of the chieftaincy title “Ochiagha Bende” on Dr. Anyaso in recognition of his leadership, philanthropy, and contributions to community development.
Dignitaries present at the event included the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Barr. Chijioke Nwankwo, alongside members of the Ofuji Movement Team.
