The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu, has vowed to deliver Abia to APC come 2027 gubernatorial election.
In a recent interview in Umuahia, the number six citizen of Nigeria, boasted that the current Labour Party Governor of Abia State would be the last the party would ever produce, pointing that the All Progressive Congress(APC),would take over Abia in 2027. He stated that APC would not be helping the state to develop, while the Labour Party takes the credit.
According to him, APC would determine who would be the next Governor of Abia State, he said he doesn’t know who that would be, but he is confident that the APC as a platform would produce the next Governor of the State.
He argued that the President has allowed the attraction of the dividend of democracy to Abia State, given federal appointments to Abians, ensured the passage of the South East Development Commission(SEDC) Bill and moreso, allowed an Abian to be the number six citizen of Nigeria, the gestures, he said, must be repaid.
“My government is working hard, the President, is working hard and Abia must repay him.
“We are not ungrateful people. Monkey will not work and bamboo will chop. APC will not help Abia to be strong and Labour Party will take the credit,No way”.
He disclosed that it is absurd to be the number six citizen of Nigeria and another party would be governing  his state, adding that he had told the Governor already both publicly and privately that come 2027,an APC Governor will govern Abia. “How it will happen,I don’t know, but I know it will happen”.
In addition, the Bende Federal Constituency Lawmaker, stated that his party is ready to work for Abia State,as  they are tired of having Abia outside the government at the centre.”We need to leverage the power at the centre to increase the development of Abia.
“The Governor is my friend and he has done comparatively well within his 100 days in office. Am proud of him. He is my friend. There is barely a day we don’t speak, but the issue is that, we have to push for our party to take over Abia State. That is what I owe my party and Mr President.
