PDP Wraps Up Abia Assembly Primaries, Set to Announce Governorship Result Today
The People’s Democratic Party has concluded its State House of Assembly primary elections across the 24 state constituencies in Abia State, with the Governorship to be announced today, 24th of May, 2026.
The exercise, which featured both consensus arrangements and direct primaries in some constituencies, was conducted peacefully without any rancour.
Briefing journalists at the PDP Secretariat in Umuahia, the Abia State Chairman of the party, Elder Abraham Amah, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the primaries, noting that party members displayed maturity and commitment throughout the exercise.
Declaring the results, the Chairman of the Election Committee, Hon. Chris Nnadi, who was represented by the Secretary of the Committee, Hon. Okafor Onowu, announced the emergence of several candidates for the 2027 State House of Assembly election.
Among those declared winners were Anastasia Ozoemena for Aba Central State Constituency, Gracelyn Oko for Ohafia North State Constituency, Ekwuribe Ifeanyi for Umuahia South State Constituency, and Joe Ukpai Kalu for Ohafia South State Constituency.
Others include Kalu Uche for Arochukwu State Constituency, Enyinnaya Apollos for Obingwa West State Constituency, Chizuru Okey Kalu for Aba North State Constituency, and Daniel Ajunwa for Aba South State Constituency, among others.
Party officials commended delegates and stakeholders for ensuring a smooth and transparent process, expressing optimism that the party would emerge stronger ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, the party disclosed that the Governorship result would be announced on the 24th of May, 2026.
