The Oha Ngwa Dibia has received a petition from a Ngwa group, Anyi Bu Nnaa, over the alleged insult directed at the former Governor of Abia State and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, by Hon. Darlington Nwokocha.

The petition was delivered on Friday during a visit by the leadership of the group to the Chairman of Oha Ngwa Dibia, Chief Chinatu Oduluso, in Osusu, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State.

The delegation was led by the Chairman of Anyi Bu Nnaa, Kelechi Njoku, alongside the Secretary, Emmanuel Nwabilor.

In the petition, the group condemned what it described as a disturbing pattern of younger people insulting elders without restraint.

It maintained that such behaviour is strange to Ngwa land, insisting that the Ngwa nation has never tolerated disrespect to elders.

According to the group, respect for elders was held sacred by Ngwa forefathers, and the present generation must not allow that heritage to be eroded.

Anyi Bu Nnaa called on Hon. Nwokocha to tender an apology to his elder brother, Dr. Ikpeazu, in the interest of peace, unity and reconciliation.

It said the apology would go a long way in dousing tension, restoring mutual respect and strengthening the bond that holds the Ngwa nation together.

The group also urged all parties to embrace dialogue and steer clear of actions capable of widening division among brothers.

It expressed confidence in the leadership of Chief Oduluso and the capacity of Oha Ngwa Dibia to mediate in the matter and ensure that such conduct does not repeat itself.
