Nigeria @66: Atuma Reflects On Nigeria’s Journey, The Hope That Binds Us
As Nigeria marks another Independence Anniversary celebration , it present opportunity to reflect on the journey that has brought us here.
Independence is more than the raising of a flag or the singing of an anthem. It is a continuing story of a people who, through difficult seasons and hopeful moments, have refused to give up on the possibility of a better nation.
Nigeria’s story has never been without challenges. Yet, across our cities, towns and villages, Nigerians continue to work, create, build families, serve their communities and hold on to hope. That resilience remains one of the country’s greatest strengths.
For us in Abia Central Senatorial Zone, our communities are part of this larger Nigerian story. From Ikwuano to Isiala Ngwa North, Isiala Ngwa South, Osisioma Ngwa, Umuahia North and Umuahia South, our people embody the enterprise, courage and community spirit that continue to shape our nation’s journey.
This Independence Day reminds us that nation-building is not the responsibility of government alone. It is a shared responsibility — expressed in the way we treat one another, support our communities, protect our common values and contribute, in our different capacities, to the Nigeria we want future generations to inherit.
Thus, let us celebrate not only where Nigeria has come from, but also the possibilities that lie ahead.
May our diversity remain a source of strength. May our unity endure through our differences. May our young people continue to find reasons to dream, and may every generation find the courage to add something meaningful to the Nigerian story.
To every Nigerian, and particularly to the good people of Abia Central, I wish you a peaceful and reflective Independence Anniversary celebration.
