Late Deaconess Joy Ikwuagwu Set for Burial April 11

The remains of late Deaconess Joy Ekwutosi Ikwuagwu, is set to be laid to rest on April 11, 2026, at the age of 80.

Late Deaconess Ikwuagwu who passed on in 2025 after a brief illness, would begin her final journey, according to the family.

The family who made the announcement , said the funeral service would take place at Umuobiala Community School Field, opposite ECWA Church, Umuobiala, in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State on April 11, 2026. This would be followed by an outing service on April 12 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Umuobiala.

Until her passing, the Late Deaconess Joy Ikwuagwu, was described as a devoted Christian who dedicated her time and resources to the service of God and humanity.

She was known for her humility, generosity, and commitment to community development, earning her respect across Umuobiala and beyond.

Family members noted that she lived a life of compassion and selflessness, always willing to support those in need and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the church and society.

She is survived by four children, including former Abia State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon Emeka Ikwuagwu, and the Abia State Publicity Secretary of the City Boy Movement, as well as Deputy State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Eric Ikwuagwu.

The family, therefore, called on friends, relatives, and well-wishers, to join them in celebrating the life and legacy of the late matriarch, whose impact, they said, would continue to be remembered for years to come.
