I Have What It Takes To Win Abia Governorship – Ikoh Declares, Seeks Party Support

He urged party members, as well as stakeholders to support him to win the contest, stating that he is prepared and capable to lead Abia.

Speaking during an engagement meeting, Ikoh said Abia needs a Governor who is ready and equipped for the task of governance, stressing that the state cannot afford to entrust its future to an unprepared candidate.

According to him, the state needs somebody to be the Governor, not somebody that was brought into the contest. “We are not going to do that”, he said.

Continuing, Ikoh said his decision to join the race was borne out of a desire to reposition the state and provide purposeful leadership under the platform of the APC.

He emphasized that the APC needs a well-prepared candidate as its governorship flagbearer, noting that this was the reason he decided to join the race

“We need somebody who is prepared to be the Governor. That is what I am vying for. I came with humility to beg the party for the ticket. If Abia will be good tomorrow, it is in your hands”, Ikoh stated.

The former Minister equally disclosed that he possesses the capacity, experience and resources required to lead the state effectively, stressing that he is mentally and financially ready, to be the Governor. “I appeal to you to use me and you are not going to regret it. We are going to win, it will be APC all the way”, he added.

Ikoh further informed the party that through the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, he has toured 16 Local Government Areas of the state, spreading the message of the APC and the Renewed Hope agenda of the Federal Government.

He said his group has organic followers that are ready to make the difference within the political terrain, pledging not to make mistakes while appealing to party to support a man that is ready and prepared to do the job.

Ikoh also officially announced his Governorship ambition to Abians, saying he was responding to widespread calls from supporters across the state.

“Yes, I have come out to run and I am going to win”, he declared confidently.

Responding, the Abia State Chairman of the APC, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, described Ikoh as an accomplished industrialist who has contributed positively to the image of Abia State through his business brand, Harmony Foam.

He expressed confidence in the quality of aspirants seeking the party’s governorship ticket, noting that the APC in Abia is blessed with experienced and credible contenders.

“My confidence is high because the party parades highly experienced governorship aspirants.

The party chairman, however , maintained that the APC ticket would emerge through a transparent process, insisting that no individual has the power to impose a candidate on the party.

Chukwu further announced that the  party has been returned to the people, therefore, no state chairman has the capacity to give ticket.

He expressed optimism that the party would eventually present a candidate capable of winning the governorship election.

“Let the will of God be done. In Abia APC Governorship ticket, I have never lost sleep. I have prayed for God to guide my path and not to fail me. He will not allow the leaders and stakeholders to pick someone that will not win the election”, he said.

The party leader, however, urged aspirants not to feel discouraged if they fail to secure the party’s ticket, saying it does not diminish their capacity or contributions but simply an indication that their time has not yet come

“When you are not voted, it doesn’t mean you don’t have capacity; it is just that the appointed time has not come,” he noted.

The APC chairman also commended the aspirants for conducting themselves peacefully and maturely throughout the political engagements.

“None has gone to the media to insult themselves, especially the governorship aspirants. Let us align with the position that will move the party forward,” he advised.

Chukwu further expressed optimism that the APC would continue to grow stronger in Abia State and eventually produce the Governor as well as, other elected office holders in the state.

He also criticized the current administration in the state, alleging that projects were being over-inflated despite the huge allocations coming to states from the Federal Government.

“The Governor has brought huge funds to the state, yet projects are over inflated. There is no monumental project in Abia today”, he alleged
