The senator representing Abia Central Senatorial district, Austin Akobundu, has described former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the most experienced and capable leader to move Nigeria forward at this critical period in the nation’s history.
Speaking with journalists during the ongoing presidential primary election of the African Democratic Party (ADC), in Oloko ward 1, Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, Senator Akobundu said he was excited by the overwhelming show of solidarity from the people, noting that it reflected their belief in the shared vision they have for the country.
According to him, the support witnessed was beyond ordinary politics, describing it as a strong expression of love, trust, and confidence in the leadership direction being championed by Atiku and his supporters across the country.
The senator expressed optimism that Atiku would emerge as the party’s candidate, stressing that Nigerians need a leader with deep knowledge of governance, economic management, and national unity.
He noted that Atiku’s years of experience as Vice President under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, positioned him as a statesman who understands the complexities of Nigeria and possesses the capacity to address the nation’s challenges.
Senator Akobundu further recalled that Atiku played a major role in assembling and coordinating the economic team that managed Nigeria’s economy during the Obasanjo administration, which he said recorded significant progress.
He maintained that with Atiku’s political experience, national reach, and understanding of the country’s socio-economic realities, Nigerians stand to benefit from purposeful leadership capable of restoring confidence and driving development across the nation
