The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Living Spring Parish, Ehimiri Umuahia, was filled with inspiration and thanksgiving on their  Father’s Day celebration, as renowned philanthropist and businessman, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso (Ofuji), challenged Christian men to embrace lives shaped not by worldly achievements but by the boundless grace of God.

Speaking as the Guest Preacher on the theme, “Men of Extravagant Grace,” Dr. Anyaso, drawing from John 1:16, reminded the congregation that while society measures a man’s worth by wealth, influence and power, God values the man whose life has been transformed by divine grace. According to him, such a man remains humble, recognizing that every achievement is a product of God’s grace rather than human strength.

He identified five enduring fruits of extravagant grace—gratitude, responsibility, compassion, godly leadership and legacy—urging fathers to become living examples of these virtues in their homes and communities.

Dr. Anyaso also encouraged Christians to participate actively in leadership and governance, warning that the vacuum created by good people often allows evil to flourish. Commending the developmental strides of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, he called on believers to support leaders who demonstrate integrity and genuine commitment to the people’s welfare.

Reflecting on his passion for humanity, Dr. Anyaso recounted how compassion inspired him to establish the Ahuoma Anyaso Educational Foundation in Igbere over eighteen years ago, where thousands of children have received quality tuition-free education, school bags, books and learning materials, producing over 5,000 pupils.

The Minister-in-Charge, Rt. Rev. Johnson Kalu, described Dr. Anyaso as a leader whose life reflects empathy, philanthropy, accessibility, grassroots empowerment and community development. Similarly, the Member representing Umuahia Central State Constituency, Hon. Anthony Chinasa, described him as “a rare gift to Ndi Bende,” urging constituents to support his aspiration to represent Bende Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in 2027.

The celebration reached an emotional climax as the church honoured Dr. Anyaso with an Education Ambassador Award, offered special prayers for him, while he, in turn, donated ₦1 million towards the work of God and demonstrated exemplary family values by presenting gifts to both the oldest and youngest couples in the congregation.

Responding to the honour, Dr. Anyaso expressed heartfelt appreciation to the church and specially acknowledged his brother, Chief Imo Mascot Obike, for his unwavering support.

The event attracted an array of political leaders like the BoT chairman of Chima Anyaso Foundation and former Commissioner for Environment, Ezeogo Emeka Onuoha, former chairman of Bende LGA, Pastor Okechukwu Dike, former DG of Follow Better Organization, Dr. N. C. Eke, Deputy Chairman of Bende LGA,Hon. Mrs Ngozi Anya, former Deputy Chairmen of Bende LGA, Hon. Chief Emenike Okorie (Omenma) and Hon.
