Abia APC Guber Candidate, Opah, Hosts House Of Assembly Aspirants, Calls For Unity
The Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), for the 2027 election, Chief Eric Opah, has hosted the House of Assembly aspirants who participated in the just concluded APC primary elections in a meeting aimed at strengthening unity and reconciliation within the party.
Addressing the aspirants in his country home, Opah centred his message on peace, understanding and collective progress.
Chief Opah appealed to them to remain patient and committed to the success of the APC in Abia State, despite the disappointments and emotions that often follow party primaries.
He acknowledged the sacrifices and efforts of the contestants, noting that every aspirant played a vital role in strengthening the party’s internal democratic process and grassroots structure across the state.
According to a Press Release signed by the Director, Media and Publicity, Eric Opah Campaign Organisation, Chief Eric Ikwuagwu, the governorship candidate emphasised the need for personal sacrifice and for all hands to be on deck to rescue the state from what he described as a government driven by propaganda.
He stated that Abia State is presently at a delicate crossroads and urgently needs a government founded on truth, accountability, transparency, and people-oriented leadership rather than media driven governance.
According to him, the people of Abia are yearning for genuine development, job creation, economic empowerment, improved infrastructure, attention to workers welfare, youth engagement, security, and prudent management of public resources.
The APC governorship candidate, who is widely regarded as a man of integrity whose word remains his bond, passionately appealed to every aggrieved aspirant not to allow temporary disappointments weaken the unity and future of the party.
He cautioned against taking political decisions in anger, stressing that many politicians who abandoned their parties out of anger and frustration in the past often ended up politically isolated and abandoned by those they sought refuge with elsewhere.
Chief Opah urged all grievances to be resolved through internal dialogue and mutual respect rather than actions capable of creating division within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He further observed that politicians who secretly worked against their parties in the past were never fully integrated by those they supported because they are rarely trusted.
In their separate remarks, the House of Assembly aspirants, thanked Chief Opah for convening the meeting, describing the gesture as a new and commendable step within the party. They noted that such an inclusive and reconciliatory approach had helped calm tensions and reassured them that everyone remains important in the collective struggle to reposition the party in Abia State.
The aspirants collectively pledged to set aside their grievances arising from the primaries and work together for the success of the APC in the state. They also assured the governorship candidate that they would not allow political anger to come in-between them and the party. They pledged to resist any ploy by politicians to exploit the temporary misunderstandings in order to weaken party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Chief Opah maintained that only a transparent, responsible, and fiscally disciplined government can reposition Abia State for sustainable growth and restore the confidence of the people in governance.
He also assured the aspirants that, if elected governor in 2027, his administration would prioritise inclusiveness, accountability, transparency, and the welfare of the people while ensuring that public funds are used strictly for the development of Abia State and not for developing private bank.
