2027: Umuahia Political Forum Throws Weight Behind APC Guber Candidate, Lauds His Leadership Abilities
The Umuahia Political Forum has endorsed the aspiration of the 2027 gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eric Opah, declaring its confidence in his leadership capacity and vision for the state.
The endorsement was made during a meeting held at the Umuahia residence of the Director-General of the Eric Opah Campaign Organization, Chief Charles Ogbonnaya, where members of the forum threw their weight behind Opah’s bid to govern Abia.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Umuahia Political Forum, Hon. Ogbonna Okezie, criticised some policies of the current state administration, describing them as anti-people. He cited heavy taxation and the relocation of motor parks, which he said had negatively affected commercial drivers and residents.

Okezie expressed confidence that Opah’s leadership experience and track record would provide the direction needed to address the challenges facing the state.
Director-General of the Eric Opah Campaign Organization, Chief Charles Ogbonnaya, welcomed the endorsement, describing Opah as a leader with an impeccable record of service and integrity. He said his decision to head the campaign was informed by Opah’s commitment to humanity and his capacity to transform Abia.
The motion for adoption was moved and seconded by Hon. Ikechukwu Ndudi and Hon. Maxwell Okwudiri respectively, both of whom expressed confidence in Opah’s leadership capabilities.
The duo equally endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office come 2027.
Accepting the endorsement, Opah described the adoption by the Umuahia Political Forum as a significant milestone in his political journey, noting that the gathering brought together people from different political parties, a development he said reflected growing acceptance of his candidacy.

The Abia APC Governorship hopeful, also endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second, stressing that he was doing so publicly and confidently, owing to the steady gains recorded by the Tinubu administration, which he said is evident in the quantum of funds state governments receive across the country.
He described Umuahia as politically strategic to the future of the state and thanked members of the forum for their confidence and support.

The APC Governorship candidate further disclosed that his background as an entrepreneur who built businesses from the scratch, expanded operations across several countries, and managed people from diverse backgrounds, had equipped him with the experience required to lead Abia effectively.

Opah said he was aware of the growing public dissatisfaction with some policies of the present administration, but maintained that Abians deserved better governance.
He pledged to ensure that public resources would be deployed solely for the benefit of the people, stressing that eliminating greed from government would remain a guiding principle of his administration, while promising to lead with compassion, maintaining an open-door policy, respecting the Constitution and adhering strictly to the internal democratic processes of his party.

Opah, however, assured Abians that, if elected in 2027, he would unite the state, promote responsible governance and create an administration driven by accountability, fairness and the fear of God.
