The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has resolved to expel and deregister a former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Sampson Uchechukwu Ogah, over alleged anti-party activities.
The decision was reportedly reached during a meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party held in Umuahia. Sources at the meeting disclosed that the matter was extensively discussed before the committee unanimously agreed to take disciplinary action against the former minister.
According to party insiders, Dr. Ogah has consistently distanced himself from APC activities in the state and has openly declared support for the incumbent Labour Party-led government in Abia State—an action the party described as undermining its structure and interests.
The party further expressed disappointment, noting that Dr. Ogah had previously benefited from the APC platform.
It recalled that he contested the 2019 governorship election under the party’s banner, amid allegations at the time that he compromised the party’s interests.
The SWC also highlighted that despite his defeat in the 2019 election, Dr. Ogah was later appointed Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development through the APC.
The party, however, lamented that rather than remain loyal, he allegedly aligned himself with the ruling Labour Party in the state—an act it considers a clear case of anti-party conduct.
Efforts to obtain an official reaction from the Abia State APC Chairman, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, were unsuccessful, as he declined to comment on the development.
