Former Governor of Abia State and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Governorship candidate in Abia State, Dr. Kelechi Anosike, and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Mandate Secretary, Dr. Chinedum Elechi, have reportedly featured on the Abia State All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) list ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The reported appearance of the trio on the list has generated political interest, particularly given their different political affiliations and backgrounds, as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 polls.

Ikpeazu, who governed Abia State between 2015 and 2023 on the platform of the PDP, is among the prominent political figures reportedly listed as part of the APC’s campaign structure. He was appointed Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain following the completion of his two-term tenure as governor.

Also reportedly featured is Dr. Kelechi Anosike, the PDP governorship candidate in Abia State for the 2027 election. His reported inclusion is particularly striking, considering his membership of the opposition party and his anticipated participation in the contest for the Abia governorship against candidates of other political parties.

Another notable name on the reported list is Dr. Chinedum Elechi, the current Mandate Secretary of the Transportation Secretariat of the FCTA, Abuja.

Elechi previously served as Commissioner for Agriculture and Transport in Abia State before his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in September 2023 as Mandate Secretary for Economic Planning, Revenue Generation and Public-Private Partnership at the FCTA. He was subsequently redeployed to the Transportation Secretariat.

Other personalities reportedly included in the Abia APC Presidential Campaign Council are Barr. Chris Ezem, Elder Raymond Aliga (MON), and Adaku Oseiza, who also have political backgrounds associated with the PDP.

The reported inclusion of these personalities has added an interesting dimension to the emerging political calculations in Abia State, particularly as political parties and influential stakeholders intensify consultations, alliances and realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The APC Presidential Campaign Council is expected to coordinate political mobilisation, stakeholder engagement and grassroots campaigns in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s anticipated re-election bid.

However, the reported appearance of opposition figures on the list raises questions about the political alignments and circumstances surrounding their inclusion.
