The Igbere Clergy Forum (IGBF), comprising churches across Igbere in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, has prayed God to grant the Labour Party’s Candidate for Bende Federal Constituency Dr Chima Anyaso victory in the upcoming National Assembly election in January.

They made their prayers during an interdenominational service held on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at All Saints Presbyterian Church, Onu-Ibina, Igbere. The event brought together clergymen, traditional rulers, community leaders, women and youth representatives, among other stakeholders.

The service was held under the theme, “The Miraculous God” (Psalm 77:14), and witnessed the participation of representatives from the 13 communities in Igbere. The Igbere Clergy Forum, which has about 76 churches, was widely represented at the gathering.

Delivering the sermon titled “Start Among Stars,” based on Genesis 37:9–11, Rev. Oke of CPM emphasized that God had raised Chimaobi Anyaso as a shining star among other stars, urging the people to recognise and acknowledge what God had done in his life.

Drawing parallels with the biblical account of Joseph and his brothers, the cleric explained that the gathering was an opportunity for the Church to appreciate and acknowledge God’s work in the life of Anyaso.

The churches, in their collective position, pledged to support Dr. Anyaso and continue to pray for his emergence, expressing their resolve to stand with him on the journey ahead.

Special prayers were offered by representatives of the 13 communities in Igbere, while the 13 Ezeogo’s also joined the clergymen in a united prayer session to lift up Anyaso and commit his aspiration into the hands of God.

In a significant movement during the service, the Church presented a Bible to Dr. Anyaso and encouraged him to remain steadfast in his faith and trust in God.

The gathering was attended by prominent religious leaders, including the Chairman of the Igbere Clergy Forum, Rev. Abraham Agu; Bishop Egeonu Chima; and Rt. Rev. Nwaonu Anyasi, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Igbere, alongside other clergymen.

The Forum had earlier stated in its invitation that the Church could not afford to remain silent at a critical point in the political history of Ndi Bende and Umunna, stressing the need for the clergy to provide direction to their congregants and speak with one voice.

The interdenominational endorsement service concluded with renewed calls for unity among the churches in Igbere, as the clergy reaffirmed their commitment to prayers and support for Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso.
