“You Build a State with Infrastructure, Not Giving Handouts” – Anyaso Blasts Past Abia Leaders, Over Demeaning Human Devt
The 2023 People’s Democratic Party (PDP), gubernatorial aspirant, Dr Chima Anyaso, has criticized past administrations for the infrastructural deficit in the state, saying Abia has been on the rise since Governor Alex Otti took over the leadership of the state.
Anyaso who noted that no state or nation could experience true development without first putting infrastructures in place, said past Abia leaders contributed to the under-development in the state with their demeaning human capital development.
Addressing Journalists during a press conference held at his Ofuji Villa,in Igbere, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, Anyaso blamed past administrations for neglecting meaningful investments that could have driven development, branding them as shameless.
According to him, “How would previous administrations believe that their little handouts here and there could drive development in Abia?
He said Abia has been in the hands of shameless leaders. People without conscience who give #500 to pregnant women that give birth in their facility.
“They flooded the system with appointments like S.A.s and S.S.A.s, mistaking it for real development,” he remarked.
The prominent Abia-born politician and business mogul, however, condemned the pattern of development of previous administrations, insisting that no human investment would function properly if good structures are not put in place.
“We now have a governor who is focused on building infrastructure, which in turn is enhancing the quality of life for our people. When infrastructure is properly developed, it naturally leads to job creation. Take the ongoing high-class renovation of the Enyimba Hotel, for instance, once completed, it will generate thousands of employment opportunities, which which will in turn improve the living conditions of people”.
Anyaso stated that the current administration in Abia is restoring a sense of identity to the people, which was lost under previous governments. “Today, we can proudly say we’re from Abia because we have tangible achievements to point to, good roads, a revitalized healthcare system, educational reforms, and more. Our identity has truly been reclaimed,” he said.

He applauded Governor Otti for delivering on his campaign promises and demonstrating the political will to address the long-standing challenges, that took Abia to the back stage among the comity of states.
According to him, it is only those who looted the state’s resources that are currently upset with the Otti’s leadership.
He expressed optimism that Governor Otti is on a clear path to reelection due to his impactful governance. “Even those who achieved little were allowed to complete their tenures. Otti, who’s redefining leadership, will no doubt return for a second term,” he noted.
Dr. Anyaso further appealed to the state government to reconstruct the Okafia-Ozuitem-Bende road, noting that it would ease the pressure on the newly rebuilt Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Akara-Igbere road.
