In commemoration of World Malaria Day, the Senior Special Assistant to the Abia State Governor on Due Process, Dr Oluebube Chukwu, has taken a proactive role in raising awareness about malaria prevention and the importance of health equity across communities.

Dr Chukwu in his message to mark the 2025 World Malara Day, emphasized the  critical need to spread awareness, promote prevention and support efforts to end the disease for good.

He said Malaria is preventable and curable, yet, it claims lives, especially in vulnerable communities, calling on relevant stakeholders in the health sector to uphold due process in the distribution of medical resources, ensuring that mosquito nets, medications and public health campaigns reach the most vulnerable populations efficiently and transparently.

Dr Chukwu equally urged people to sleep under treated nets, clear stagnant water, seek treatment early, among other preventive measures.

He added that this year’s theme, “Accelerating the fight against malaria for a healthier future”, served as a reminder that we all have a collective role to play in the fight against malaria, stressing that his office remained committed to ensuring that the disease is nipped to the bud. “Together, we can make malaria history”, he remarked.
