The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, Abia State chapter, has lauded Governor Alex Chioma Otti for picking a member of the Trade union, as part of his cabinet.
In an interview with newsmen in Umuahia, the Abia State chairman of the TUC, Comrade Ihechi Enogwe, said the Union is elated to have a one time TUC Chairman as a Commissioner in the state, he said the choice of Comrade Nwanganga Sunny Onwuma,as a Transport Commissioner, is commendable,as it would bring sanity to the transportation sector being a Labour unionist.
According to Enogwe, Comr Onwuma would make good policies that would bring about improved services in the transport sector, adding that the Governor has done well for appointing him, describing him as a square peg in round hole.
He said the Transport Commissioner should endeavour to carry everyone along, putting his best to develop the sector and Abia at large.
In an interview, the newly sworn in Commissioner for Transport, Comrade Nwanganga Sunny Onwuma, described his appointment as divine, pledging to bring policies that would revitalize the sector.
He said he would strengthen the e-transport policy that has already started, so that funds realized would no longer go into individual pockets but government’s.
Comr Onwuma assured that the illegalities going on in the various parks in the state would be curtailed, stressing that he would contribute his quota to help drive the Abia economy forward.
However,he said measures would be put forth to address the various loading and off loading bays around isigate areas,to restore orderliness in the area.
