Operation Clean All Gutters/Drains:Abia Ministry of Environment Seeks Cooperation From Abians
The Abia State Ministry of Environment has called on all Mayors, traditional rulers, landlords, market leaders, motor park operators, business owners, community leaders , churches and the general public to actively participate in this month’s sanitation exercise, tagged, “OPERATION CLEAN ALL GUTTERS AND DRAINS”.
In a Release signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Environment,Philemon Asonye Ogbonna, FCA, all markets, motor parks, as well as business premises are to embark on the exercise come Friday, March 28, between the hours of 7am and 9am, as tippers will be made available to evacuate all wastes.

Meanwhile, all residents in Abia are urged to come out to clean the drains and their environment on Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 7AM-10AM.
“Remember, blocked drains contribute to flooding, environmental hazards, and health risks. To ensure a cleaner and healthier environment, everyone is expected to clear gutters, remove waste, and properly dispose of debris”.
The Release further stated that Environmental officers would be on duty to monitor compliance and defaulters would face appropriate sanctions.”Let us work together to maintain a safe and hygienic environment”.
