Monarch Appeals For The Review Of Traditional Rulers’ Stipend In Abia
The Traditional Ruler of Eluama na Mgbedeala Autonomous Community, Umunwawa, Umuopara in Umuahia South Local Government Area, of Abia state, Eze Chibuike Rowland Osuagwu, has called on the new Governor of the state, Dr Alex Otti, to review the welfare package of traditional Rulers in the state, while improve on the livelihood of the masses.
In an interview with journalists in Umuahia, the monarch appealed to Governor Otti to increase the monthly stipend of Ndieze,so they can be at par with their colleagues in other states and as well, make the overall welfare of ndi Abia his priority, put infrastructures in place, grow the state’s IGR and ensure that salaries and pensions are regularly paid to ameliorate the suffering of the citizens.
Eze Osuagwu stated that the new Governor should strive to surpass the record of the previous administration, which according to his evaluation did pretty well, adding that since governance is a continue, the new administration should consolidate on the existing legacies,as well as, build new ones.
He urged Governor Alex Otti to tackle headlong the issue of non payment of salaries/pensions, which has bedeviled workers and pensioners in the state.
The Royal father, however, suggested that the construction of an airport in the state,would not be an aberration, as it is totally appalling for Abians to be traveling as far as states, just to board flight.
He expressed happiness over the change in government in Abia, stating that the traditional Institution would always offer their support to any government in power, while congratulating Dr Alex Otti for his emergence as the fifth democratically elected governor of the state.
The Monarch further prayed God to grant the new Governor protection and above all, grace to accomplish every vision he has for the state and its citizens.
