According to him,the area is erosion prone, due to its sloppy surface, adding that when it rains, most of the rain water runs down the hill and the steeper and longer the hill is, the more velocity and force the water gains.

He said the situation must be arrested very fast before it poses more danger to the people ,as already a larger part of the community have been consumed by the gully.

The federal lawmaker, however, expressed optimism that the situation would be brought under control in no distant future, with the efforts of the Governor, Dr Alex Otti.

He also urged the residents to be calm and hopeful ,as he would raise the matter of urgent attention concerning the issue at the floor of the House, making sure an ecological solution is brought forth.

Nnamani pointed out the existential threat confronting the people, stressing that if the area could be inundated under two weeks of rain fall, then if the rains continue in the next four months, the danger would be escalated.

“This is an emergency, by today, our Governor will be informed about this.
I will also raise this in our next plenary, so that the attention of the federal government can be attracted to this.

“But this may not happen immediately because of the bureaucracy in governance.

“I am assuring that the Federal Government will come to your aid but can’t guarantee when it will come “,he said.

The federal lawmaker, disclosed that soil erosion is an unfathomable enemy that often goes unnoticed and it eats away the most precious resources we have, promising that actions would be taken to forestall the imminent danger.
