Dr Chukwu Applauds TSA Policy In Abia
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Due Process and Public Procurement Bureau, Dr. Oluebube Chukwu, has said the introduction of Treasury Single Account, TSA, system, in the state is a step in the right direction, that will assist in building a stronger economy in the state.
Dr. Chukwu, who made this known at the Board of Internal Revenue Headquarters Umuahia, when he led Management Staff of his office on a fact finding visit to the Chairman BIR, noted with pleasure that the introduction of the TSA system in the state is worthwhile and apt, stressing that it has helped in reducing leakages and gross embezzlement of government funds.
According to the Governor’s Aide, his Agency has fully keyed into the TSA system for proper accountability, openness, and transparency.
The SSA on Due Process, further disclosed that the purpose of their visit to the BIR office was to glean facts and clarifications regarding revenue generation and utilization as that would enable them to be acquainted with all operational guidelines.
Dr. Chukwu, however, applauded the administrative policies of Governor Alex Otti with special reference to the one on Ease of Doing Business in the state, pointing out that it has greatly attracted more investors in the state.
He, revealed that the Bureau under his watch has commenced the registration of contractors handling all forms of Procurement in the state, while its official launching will be done soon.
He used the medium to call on all Procurement vendors in the state to take advantage of the opportunity to be captured.
The Due Process Boss, therefore, extolled the BIR Chairman and his Management Team for the various innovative ideas entrenched in the revenue Board which he said has improved the Internally Generated Revenue of the State and called for its sustenance.
Reacting, the Chairman, Board of Internal Revenue, Umuahia, Prof Udochukwu Ogbonna, thanked, Dr Oluebube Chukwu and his team for the working visit and called for more cooperation between the two government agencies.
Prof Ogbonna called on all Heads of government agencies to assist in ensuring sanity in all revenue matters in their respective offices and announced that POS machines, would be distributed to all revenue generating MDAs in the state who applied for it for easier operations.
In their votes of thanks, the Director of Finance, Mrs Thelma Chukwuma and Deputy Director, Procurement, Mr Okwara Chiukpai, on behalf of others, thanked the BIR Chairman for putting them through on issues concerning Treasury Single Account system among other issues of concern, and pledged to comply with to the stipulates rules.
