Doctors in Hospitals Management Board under the aegis of National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners(NAGGMDO),Abia State chapter, has heartily expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Abia state, Dr Alex Chioma Otti and members of his government, on the palpable gainful strides in revitalizing the moribund Abia health sector and deliberate efforts in improving the working conditions of HMB doctors, health workers and Abia workers at large.
In an appreciation statement jointly signed by the State Chairman, Dr Okeugo Obinna C. and the Secretary, Dr Nwaegerue Iroabuchi, described Dr Otti as a compassionate governor with a good heart and the most workers’ caring governor and highly gifted in financial management.
The statement further states that, “Your Excellency,
” You pay our monthly salaries including other Abia workers on the 28th of each month. You have never owed any salary of any month.
” For the very Ist time in the history of Abia state,you paid doctors in HMB, other health workers and all workers in the state a 13th month salary after the December,2023 salary to ensure that all your workers and their families enjoy the yuletide with a seamless financial flow. This clearly shows your magnanimity to Abia workers.
” Furthermore, you constituted a salary review committee to work out a living wage package to doctors and other health workers in Abia State to cushion the prevailing nationwide economic hardship and mitigate the exodus of doctors and its resultant brain drain. You even increased the retirement ages of the health professionals in Abia State to ensure there are enough health experts to serve Abia residents. Only a compassionate governor with a good heart can do this.
” Despite the Lean state resources , you devised an amortization formula to defray the liability of the humongous salary arrears owed by the past government which you have started paying already. This puts you as the most workers’ caring governor and highly gifted in financial management.
” It will be a disservice to our conscience if we do not recognize the huge financial commitment you have deployed to revive the infrastructural decay and moribund Abia health sector you inherited.
“Your Excellency, this is the first time we are experiencing such excellent governance in our dear Abia State. You are a governor that doesn’t renege on your promises.
Finally, we HMB doctors appreciate you also for the efficient, proactive and innovative management team you deployed to the Hospitals Management Board. We have a vote of confidence on them”.
