Construction of Omenuko Bridge, Ushering in a New Era of Infrastructure Development in Abia~Dr Chima Anyaso
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development with the official flag-off of the Omenuko Bridge construction in Abam, Arochukwu. The bridge, which serves as the only link between Abam and Bende, has been in a deplorable state for decades, hampering trade, commerce, and economic growth in the region.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Dr. Otti emphasized his administration’s dedication to delivering critical infrastructure that will enhance connectivity and improve the lives of Abia residents. The Governor’s initiative marks a historic milestone for the people of Abam, Arochukwu, and Bende, who have long suffered from government neglect.
Businessman and political leader, Chima Anyaso, who was present at the event, lauded Governor Otti’s visionary leadership, noting that the long-overdue project is a testament to his administration’s commitment to action over empty promises.
“For decades, successive governments ignored the dire state of this crucial bridge despite its economic importance. But today, Governor Otti has shown that leadership is about taking action, not just making promises. This bridge is just the beginning,” Anyasọ stated.
Anyaso stated that beyond the Omenuko Bridge, the Governor announced plans to build a General Hospital in Arochukwu and a major road project in Abam, further solidifying his vision for a modernized Abia State.
He added that with these strategic infrastructural projects, the State Governor is setting a new standard for governance in Abia, prioritizing development that will drive economic growth and improve the quality of life for all residents.
“The Omenuko Bridge project is expected to significantly boost trade, ease transportation, and create opportunities for local communities, marking a new dawn for Abia North as a whole with special reference to Abam, Arochukwu, and Bende.
“This is a new dawn for our people, and I am proud of the Governor’s strides. There is time for politics and there’s time for leadership, this is time for leadership and Dr Alex Otti is showing workings”, Anyaso stated.
