Chukwu Lauds Governor Otti for Ending Years of Neglect in Ukwa, Flags Off Key Road Project
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has declared that the long years of neglect suffered by Ukwa, the state’s oil-producing region, have come to an end. He assured residents that his administration has initiated significant development projects to revitalize the area. His efforts have earned widespread commendation, including from Oluebube Chukwu, who praised the governor’s commitment to equitable development across Abia State.
Otti made this declaration while flagging off the reconstruction of the 11.1-kilometer Obehie-Umudobia-Owaza road in Ukwa West Local Government Area. He emphasized that the road, once completed, would enhance the marketability and viability of the proposed Abia Industrial and Innovation Park (AIIP), which is located in the council area.
Dr. Oluebube Chukwu lauded Governor Otti’s vision, stating that the initiative is a testament to the administration’s resolve to reverse years of marginalization in Ukwa. He noted that the new road and the planned industrial hub would significantly boost economic activities, attract investors, and create jobs for the people.
The governor also announced that the Federal Government has approved the establishment of a modular refinery within the AIIP, with a projected completion timeline of 12 months. He assured that the project is not just about improving accessibility but also about reviving the area’s economic potential, opening up new opportunities, and restoring the dreams of past generations.
“Just a few days ago, we received the good news that the Federal Government has approved a modular refinery to be sited inside the AIIP, which will be built by H.I.S. Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited,” Otti said.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing all necessary support to accelerate the socio-economic development of the area. This includes collaborating with various agencies such as the Abia State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (ASOPADEC) and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to restore what was lost to years of neglect and poor leadership.
Oluebube Chukwu further emphasized that Governor Otti’s proactive governance is setting a new standard in Abia, particularly in infrastructure, economic growth, and social welfare. “This administration is proving that leadership is about action, not empty promises,” he remarked, encouraging Ukwa residents to rally behind the government’s transformation agenda.
Former Secretary to the Abia State Government, Pastor Ralph Egbu, who attended the flag-off event, also commended the governor’s efforts. He admitted the shortcomings of past administrations, including the one he served in, stating, “Forgive us if we did wrong during our administration. We did our little bit, but when knowledge precedes vision, the crash is inevitable.”
