The Abia State, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may have settled for the best Unifier with magnificent emotional maturity, admirable calm mien, patience, intelligence, humility, prudence, forbearing and compassionate, tactful, unselfish, detribalised, unusual tolerance quotient, a great deal of peaceful disposition, dependable, decisive, harmoniser with exceptional skills in management of human and material resources.
Born 57 years ago, Sir Okechukwu Ambrose Ahaiwe holds a Bachelor of Political Science degree from the prestigious University of Lagos and a Master’s degree in same discipline from Abia State University. He is a board room guru with an extensive experience in administration, project management, quality control and assurance, oil and gas, financial management, conflict resolution and management. He hails from Umuire Village, Eziama Ntigha Autonomous Community in Isialangwa North Local Government Area.
Sir Ahaiwe sees himself as a lifelong and continous learner for self development. He is ever eager to learn and keep learning from the numerous executive courses, International trainings, conferences, seminars, workshops and symposia he continues to attend to remain in the cutting edge of knowledge and expertise.
He successfully built two (2) oil and gas servicing companies, Ambrokah Investment Ltd and Powertrim Nigeria Ltd. These companies have grown to become front-line players in the maritime sub-sector of the Oil and gas industry providing onshore and offshore cathodic protection of pipelines with other wide-range ancillary services to major multinational oil firms.
An astute politician, Chief Ahaiwe is a classical player of politics without bitterness. A major stakeholder in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who has deligently served the party in various capacities; Coordinator of Coordinators in the Campaign Council for re-election of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in 2019, Member National sub-committee for the conduct of party primaries in Cross River and Oyo States, served as a Member of the Abia State Security Trust Fund.
Chief Ahaiwe has also been a member of the Ohaneze Ndigbo Reconciliation Council. The Foundation President of the influential Ngwa Patriots Forum. In April 2022, he was appointed as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Abia State.
As Chief of Staff, he brought his administrative competence to bear by establishing a robust and healthy working relationship, confidence, trust with government house staff for greater public service productivity. As a strong believer in the strength of human diversity, he treated both political and public servants with utmost respect. He wasn’t bias or segregated Abians based on Local Government of origin; his doors were opened to all. His mantra is leadership through service – serving with the confidence of a leader and leading with the humility of a servant.
A consummate philanthropist, Sir Ahaiwe has been supportive in many community development initiatives, he has rehabilitated many schools, constructed many roads, given educational support to students and deeply involved in cultural renaissance.
A man of deep spiritual consciousness, Chief Ahiwe is a Knight of the Order of St. John’s International (KSJI). He has been voluntarily honoured with numerous chieftaincy titles, including that of Ugomba Eziama Ntigha. He has also been honoured by many reputable organizations including Churches, town unions, professional bodies, socio-cultural associations and the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.
He is happily married to Nnenna Ahaiwe and they are blessed with five lovely children.
