Abia Lawmaker Concludes Plans To Bring Succour To His Constituents Amidst Fuel Subsidy Removal
The Member Representing Isialangwa North State Constituency in the 8th Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Collins Iheonunekwu (OCHAKE), has concluded plans to bring succour to his constituents who go through untold hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy.
In an interview, the Lawmaker said he can not watch as the economic hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy takes its toll on widows and other vulnerable groups in Isialangwa North Local Government Area.
Hon iheonunekwu who is barely two months in office, stated that he decided to cater for the welfare of one of the most vulnerable groups in every society, adding that he so touched by the plight of widows, hence, the flagging of the first batch of the subsidy support scheme with 200 indigent widows of Isialangwa North Local Government Area.
The Lawmaker whose duties to his people of Isialangwa North derived from the popular mandate freely given to him by his constituents, pointed out that he is desirous of bringing smiles to the people of his constituency.
Ochake, as he is fondly called, is poised to make a difference by bringing back the dividends of democracy that touches the economic life of his people, rather than seeking for unnecessary politically patronizing activities.
The disbursement which would be done through the OCHAKE SUPPORT SCHEME, in its first phase, would benefit 200 widows drawn from across the length and breath of Isialangwa North Local Government Area, with a fund support of one million Naira (N1,000,000.00).
Hon Collins Iheonunekwu, further assured that the selection of the beneficiaries would be done with utmost transparency to achieve the desired intensions of geographical spread within the wards of Isialangwa North LGA and targeted vulnerable widows, irrespective of political party affiliations, support or creed.
The scheme according to the Lawmaker, is basically for indigent widows of Isialangwa North LGA, without bias to political party membership. “Every widow is entitled to benefit, insofar, they are indigenes of Isialangwa North LGA”.
He added that for easy management and intended spread, OCHAKE SUPPORT SCHEME, would rely on INEC polling units/wards framework for selection of beneficiaries. Each polling unit would be expected to nominate a beneficiary to form part of the first batch of 200 pilot scheme.
