As the Abia Governor-Elect, Dr Alex Otti is being sworn in today, the Labour Party  chairman in the State, Hon Ceekay Igara, has revealed  that the new administration will rejig economic activities in the state which has gone comatose.

He said Dr Alex Otti will achieve high economic growth through better mobilisation and prudent use of economic resources.

In an interview with National Ambassador Newspapers, the Labour Party Chairman said the new Governor of the state would engender economic activities by paying workers’ salaries promptly, as well as pension.

According to him, once these funds are released regularly into the economy, it has the potency of beefing up economic activities, which would in turn, generate revenue for the state, attract investors into the state and at the long run, create employment opportunities.

He added that Dr Alex Otti’s major focus is governance, stating that from now till December 2023, all salary arrears would either be paid fully or substantial part of it.

Reacting to the recent Kano court ruling where it was reported that Dr Alex Otti was sacked on issue bordering on pre election matter, the Abia Labour Party chairman, said Abians should be ready to celebrate as the kangaroo judgement given by the kano court cannot stop the hand- over ceremony, adding that the party is already piling up its evidences to counter the said judgement.

According to him, the judgement was purchased. Nobody knew about the matter until judgment was given. “How can a case be filed in court and within eleven days, judgement was given. If not for our Deputy National President that called my attention to the plot by the Lamidi Apapa’s led faction of the Labour party, a night preceding the judgement, perhaps, we would have heard it over the radio like others. The judgement is unacceptable, you cannot shave a man’s hair in his absence “.

On the issue of the party’s register, “No party at the state level submits its register to INEC, rather you submit to your National body, who will in turn submit to INEC. They also alleged we did not hold any congress. This is laughable. When it is time, we will put forth our evidences”.

The LP Chairman in Abia also noted that the party will only begin the process of admiting new members after the inauguration, stating that the process would be thoroughly followed, as the party wouldn’t want to admit bad elements from other parties, that might likely come to hijack the party.

“For now, there is an embargo in entering the Labour party. This is because we dont want bad elements from the PDP and other parties to spoil the Labour Party. We will come up with modalities,so as to sieve and fish out members with bad intentions from entering the party. Our stakeholders would be picked based on integrity and character “,he said.

The LP Chairman, however, congratulated the new Governor of the state and as well, the citizens for voting right, assuring Abians that the Otti’s led government would alleviate poverty by fostering opportunities for job creation, achieve high economic growth through better mobilisation and prudent use of economic resources, build a strong economy by encouraging private sector participation and also ensure good governance by transforming development administration into a service and result-oriented system.
