Ikwuano Clergy Group Throws Weight Behind Emeka Atuma Ahead of 2027 Abia Central Senatorial Election

The Association of Clergy in Ikwuano Chapter, led by the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the area, Bishop Echeme Okezie Sunday, has thrown its full support behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate, Rt. Hon. Emeka Atuma, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced during a gathering in Ikwuano, where members of the clergy said Atuma represents the kind of leadership they believe is needed in the district at this time. According to the association, his political journey reflects commitment, service, and purpose, qualities they said have continued to win him support across the community.

Bishop Sunday, while addressing the gathering, compared Atuma’s rise in politics to the leadership of David in the Bible, describing it as a force that restored dignity and inspired confidence. He said the former lawmaker has shown qualities that have earned the trust of religious and community leaders.

In his response, Atuma expressed gratitude to the clerics for the endorsement, describing it as both humbling and encouraging. He said the support from respected religious leaders further strengthens his resolve to serve the people with sincerity, accountability, and a deep commitment to progress.

“I am truly honored by this show of confidence. Leadership is about service, and I remain committed to working with the people of Ikwuano and Abia Central to build a future that reflects our collective hopes and aspirations,” Atuma said.

He further pledged to remain accessible to the people and to continue engaging stakeholders across the district as part of his broader consultation efforts ahead of the election.

The endorsement adds to the growing number of groups and stakeholders backing Atuma as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of 2027 general elections .
