The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims by a group it described as a “faction” of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that such actors lack legitimacy and political relevance in the state.

In a statement issued on April 18, 2026, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, said the APC would ordinarily ignore the group but decided to respond in order to prevent the public from being misled.

The party maintained that the only PDP structure recognized by law and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abia State is the one led by Abraham Amah, adding that the individuals behind the press conference do not represent any credible political bloc.

According to the statement, the group comprises “politically homeless and frustrated elements” whose claims have been invalidated by court decisions. The APC further alleged that the individuals were attempting to gain relevance and curry favor with Governor Alex Otti.

The party also criticized the political track records of the individuals, accusing them of contributing to the internal crisis that weakened the PDP in Abia State. It described their actions in previous election cycles as acts of political sabotage driven by personal interests.

Reaffirming its confidence in its growing support base, the APC said Abians have continued to show trust in the party’s leadership, particularly under the influence of Benjamin Okezie Kalu. It added that the party maintains a strong presence across the state.
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections,

the APC expressed optimism about its chances, stating that support for the party would continue to grow, leading to a decisive victory at the polls.

The party also pledged to deliver governance focused on transparency, infrastructure development, and improved access to education and transportation if given the mandate.

The statement urged residents to disregard the claims of the said faction and remain aligned with the APC’s vision for the state.
