A group by the name United Abia Artistes and Patriots Forum(UAAP),has commended the outstanding achievements of the Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, over the past 14 months in office, praising his exceptional leadership style and significant accomplishments.
The group who recognized the Governor’s remarkable progress and commitment to excellence in leadership, said Abia has become a construction site under Governor Otti’s led administration.
In a Press Conference held in Umuahia,the Abia State Capital, the President of the group, Ambassador Osita Offor (Ultimate Commander), reiterated that Governor Otti’s administration has demonstrated good leadership qualities, proving that governance is not a rocket science, but deeply rooted in effective visualization, planning, implementation and monitoring.
He said Gov Otti has excelled in infrastructural development and has made strides in moving Abia forward, with the “New Abia Ideology”, that is becoming a tangible reality.
According to Amb. Osita Offor, some areas neglected for over two decades, are receiving much needed attention.”The Portharcourt road in Aba, which is currently managed by the Julius Berger construction company, the ongoing reconstruction of Ngwa road,Omuma and other locations,are pointers that the Governor is in for a serious business”.
He stated that the aesthetic look of Umuahia capital city, has been stunningly transformed, with the construction of internal roads,fixing of street lights,water drainages, the new Dr Michael Okpara water fountain, the newly commissioned Aguiyi Ironsi Boulevard(the first ever six lane road in Abia).
The group further disclosed that the Gov Otti’s administration has a remarkable stretch of long roads under construction, from Umuahia through Uzuakoli in Bende LGA to Akara in Isuikwuato, passing through Igbere,Abiriba and ending in Ohafia LGA, revealing that Nunya road and other numerous road projects are currently ongoing in the state.
He added that the government has a strong commitment to the health of the people,with the revitalization of the some health facilities,like the Specialist Hospital, Umuahia,Amachara General Hospital and the Abia State Teaching Hospital,Aba, adding that plans are underway to refurbish general hospitals and Primary Health Centres in the state.
The group’s President noted that the Governor is making stellar performance in education by retrofitting the primary and secondary school facilities,as well as, upgrading the syllabus to align with modern standards.
He stated that the government’s initiatives are enhancing the well-being of civil servants,pensioners and business owners in the state, urging the governor to equally channel attention to the development of some key areas in the state, such as, Agriculture, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Youth empowerment, Entertainment,among others.
Meanwhile, Amb. Offor, enjoined the opposition in the state to desist from playing destructive opposition, but engage in constructive criticisms, where they proffer alternative solutions,policies and ideologies,rather than being judgemental.
However, the group, disclosed that the negative media narrative about the state has changed, since Gov Otti assumed office, stressing that Abia has been trending positively, attracting investors into the state, while seeking for more support from Abians to reposition the state. The group further unveiled their logo to Abians.
